Entrepreneurs Hour: Ceres Tag – Armidale

Join us for Entrepreneurs Hour to hear from David and Melita Smith founders of Ceres Tag as they speak on ‘Going Global from Day One’
David and Melita are the co-founders of Ceres Tag, an open smart livestock platform using an ear tag to automate the collection of data for the supply chain to monitor for traceability provenance, animal welfare, theft detection and will fundamentally improve the decision making process to aid financial performance of farm operations. Operating via low earth orbit satellite for GPS positioning to reduce infrastructure and increase connectivity, animal lifetime battery, improved retention and RFID, Ceres Tag aspires to be the first smart on animal device to be accredited to NLIS and other similar accreditations around the world.
David and co-founder Melita Smith both grew up on cattle properties in NSW and QLD respectively. David has a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Masters Business Administration and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors bringing a wealth of knowledge from the energy and infrastructure industries from around the world and now applying that innovation to the global livestock sector. Melita has a Bachelor of Teaching and a Masters of Education bringing a global perspective on adoption of technologies and their utilisation for multiple stakeholders along the supply chain network. Ceres Tag is a private company with shareholders and is being developed in collaboration with MLA Donor Company, CSIRO, Queensland Government and James Cook University.
