Values, Leadership and Culture – why they are so important to get right, and how you can succeed from the beginning.
Identifying values, good leadership and the right culture are essential to the sustainable success of any business, big or small, starting-up or established.
For start ups, it is essential to identify and clearly communicate your organizational values, show excellent leadership and create the right culture before you can grow a quality business that attracts and retains the right employees, professional investors and wins business with the right customers.
In this one hour workshop/presentation Helen and Will Martin will discuss the link between values, leadership and culture, why these are essential to a successful business, and why it is so important to get these right from the outset. At the end of this session attendees will have created their individual and organisation’s values and have received a crash-course in leadership skills that will enable them to set the right culture in their business from the beginning.

Will Martin is a retired Australian Naval officer. Over the course of a 34-year career, including being the Captain of two warships, Will developed some exceptional skills. His ability to generate a strong sense of belonging within the teams he led is surpassed only by his innate ability to create one-on-one rapport with everyone in his team. When you ask him what he does now he answers “I coach people and teams to help them create sustained excellence. By working one-on-one with leaders I can enhance self-awareness and authenticity, helping them create a highly cohesive team culture that everybody aspires to be a part of.” Will firmly believes that if everyone in an organisation is inspired and motivated to perform for each other, which he knows is a biproduct of excellent leadership and culture, the productivity is extraordinary.
Helen Martin’s mix of work experience across local government, start-ups, small to medium and large enterprises, has allowed her to gain tremendous insight into the influence and impact of different leadership styles, organisational structures, team dynamics and cultures. Having often been a team leader she has seen first hand the extraordinary loyalty and commitment engendered in team members when their personal and professional growth is set as a high priority. A renewed focus on this strength in 2017 influenced her to become a certified organisational coach and join Waterline Leadership. Helen’s top Gallup strength is ‘Individualisation’ which is a reflection of her keen observation of people’s strengths and her ability to draw out the best in each person. Working with Will, she combines her unique skills and experience to coach people to lead themselves, their teams and their organisations for sustained success.
